Tonia Schilling’s Afro-contemporary style displays high levels of freedom and creativity along with deep musical sensibility and permanent search for authenticity in gesture and expression.

In contact with the world of dance from her early childhood, Tonia Schilling has had a rather atypical path. Her mother passed onto her the art of choreography and her love for teaching. She further trained in Europe and Africa, and received spiritual initiation. Her work with Koffi Kôkô and Ismael Ivo deeply influences her artistic language. She starts a scientific and theoretical research on the ritual, trains on Asian movement and breathing techniques and acquires the anatomic knowledge essential to her vision of dancing.

Experienced in teaching and professional training, Tonia Schilling knows how to turn each class in an energy filled journey, allowing its participants to experience a transforming universe in order to bring them back to the essence of life...
