Queen of Sabar!
No word can describe the quality of her teaching method through which she transmits the Sabar, the traditional Lebou and Wolof dance. Outstanding teacher, she has developed her own teaching method of an art, long judged difficult to transmit and her revolutionary methodology has had a tremendous impact among West African dance practitioners.
In the beginner class, Yama initiates the learners into the Sabar 5 steps and great attention is given to the development of musicality, a must have for one to understand the Sabar. In the Compositions & Impro class, learners who already have acquired the basics will receive, besides a review of the basics, a deep teaching of the codes of Sabar to pave the way to composition and improvisation.
To crown this first collaboration with the festival, Yama will be part of the Dance the elements class, along with Tonia and Merlin… a promising encounter!
